Representatives of the economic chambers from Albania, Macedonia and Montenegro stressed today in meeting which was held in the premises of KCC that the regional economic cooperation is a requirement of the time
In the meeting held today in KCC was stressed that meeting of today is a continuity of the Memorandum of Cooperation which was signed a year ago in Vlora, Albania, through which one was established the institutional cooperation between the Chambers of Commerce of four countries.
Participants of this meeting were welcomed also by the Minister of European Integration, Mr. Besim Beqaj.
President of KCC, Safet Gërxhaliu mentioned that there is needed a consequent commitment to improve the regional cooperation, organizing joint events, B2B meetings, fairs, trade missions, cooperation to participate in the third markets and in front of international institutions, harmonization of tax regime and avoiding double taxation.
The President of the Union of Chambers of Trade and Industry of Albania, Mr. Ilir Zhila stressed that the markets of our countries are very small to be a part of competiveness of the international markets and there is a need for integration of these economies and these four countries should give their recommendations to the Brussels which comes from the business community.
Antoni Pesev the Chairman of the Macedonian Economic Chambers Board, said that the chambers should have their own mentality “Thinking globally and acting locally”.
He said that countries of the regional should do more for the regional economic cooperation, because the regional countries are facing with hard obstacles, such as lacking of a good infrastructure, lack of energy resources and the tendency of the other countries to use these countries as a corridor.
Secretary General of the Macedonian Chamber of Economy, Mr. Pavle Radovanovic said that the Montenegrin Chamber of Economy has determined to play a role for the regional economic cooperation between the countries, by using as a good opportunity also the Central Europe Free Trade Agreement (CEFTA).
He called for simplification of customs procedures and sought to liberalize all agricultural products.
Speaking of behalf of the Program for assisting the region countries in implementation of CEFTA, Mr. Eduard Schwartz from the Union of German Chambers said that the main purpose of this program will be supporting the region countries.
He stressed that economic development is a precondition to the political stability and mentioned that Germany is very active in this aspect.
The priority of Germany will be education and improving the knowledge on International Business, staff education of the chambers of region and improvement of chambers in terms of member relations.
